world and universe around us with unprecedented precision. For the past
15 years X-ray free-electron lasers have shed light on the smallest structural
details and most fleeting of reactions, generating insights that continually
push at the frontier of our knowledge and light up entirely new fields of science.
This builds on over 40 years of free-electron laser experience in the infrared
and ultraviolet spectrum which, alongside the more recently developed X-ray
sources, continue to deliver cutting edge science today and into the future.
