El programa Al Cielo con Ella como ejemplo de renovación del Late Show en España: un análisis de género
This research analyzes the Spanish television program Al Cielo con Ella (ACCE), hosted by Henar Álvarez on TVE's La 1. This late-show format, which originated in the United States during the 1950s, has historically maintained a robust glass ceiling that limits women's access to hosting these types of spaces. The main objective of this study is to evaluate how female leadership and gender-responsive comedy transform the narratives of a traditionally masculinized format, questioning whether this space succeeds in breaking down these structural barriers. The methodology consists of a qualitative case study utilizing discourse analysis applied to a sample of 9 episodes broadcast between November 2024 and May 2026, selecting the three highest-impact episodes from each of its three seasons. The observation process was structured around a cross-sectional analysis sheet that includes monologues, interviews, and collaborations, complemented by a semi-structured interview with the host. The results show a marked thematic specialization centered on the critique of machismo, the digital environment, and aesthetic violence. Among the 115 guests of diverse profiles, a clear, intentional asymmetry was recorded, with 89 women and 26 men. Furthermore, performative dynamics such as "la nevera" ("the fridge") channel collective frustration against patriarchal behaviors. In conclusion, ACCE modernizes the genre, demonstrating that feminist comedy subverts androcentric hegemony in television.
