2026 National X-ray School will take place September 14 – 23, 2026 at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL)

Training the next generation of X-ray facility users, the National X-ray School provides an intensive introduction to the breadth of techniques available at DOE light sources. This immersive school, which will take place at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory, features a combination of traditional lectures, hands-on experiments and panel discussions. It is geared towards graduate students who are beginning their research projects. Lectures are delivered by researchers from academia, industry, and national laboratories and will cover basic tutorials on X-ray generation and source characteristics, the fundamentals of X-ray interactions with matter, and the application of X-ray microscopy, spectroscopy, and diffraction methods to a range of scientific subjects.
